The beginning of January 2020 brought with it information about a new type of virus in China, and for some, the immediate concern was what kind of impact this would have on the Chinese economy. Not many, at that time, could imagine it would transform into a global pandemic which would bring economic cycles to a halt in many countries, or isolate people in their homes due to forced quarantine. Some measures, like the ban on going out and limiting production amount in factories, have not happened on such a scale since
the Second World War.
Due to the use of the very same tools which serve the purpose of covering up human rights abuses, the coronavirus crisis that might have been largely just a Chinese issue became worldwide problem.
